Keep the teachings of your parents and most holy Father. Take them to heart, and guard them with all of your strength. View them as your most prized possession, the "apple of your eye." If we do so, then we are seen by God as the apple of His eye! Yes please! I want that!
Embrace wisdom as you would a loved one. Let it fill your life so that you may be protected from temptation.
This man that Solomon mentions was lacking not only sound judgement, but common sense. He had not equipped himself to combat temptation, clearly. The adulteress was fully prepared to lure him to bed with her. She was essentially waiting for him, her plan fully in tact. Everything down to perfuming her bed was arranged. The wicked are cunning in that they our weaknesses and fight hard to break down our defenses. They are prepared to counter any opposition we may propose. In chapter 5 Solomon talks about how we need to presently prepare ourselves to avoid and not partake in sinful nature so that, when the temptation presents itself, we are able to resist its allure. This man was not prepared, and thus the adulteress was easily able to guide him into her snare.
"Her house is a highway to the grave,
leading down to the chambers of death." {v. 27}
Be prepared to confront and ward off temptation. Be not senseless like this man. Like a sponge, absorb the Lord's wisdom and knowledge. May it be a guiding light down the path of righteousness.
