That crazy moment when...

You get a better grade in oceanography than you had expected, but your anthropology grade is lower than you thought it was... Ugh. Let's just pray I get at least an 88 on my anthro final!

Anywho, today went pretty well! My two social work classes (last ones of the semester!) went really well, I had a lovely lunch date with Melissa, I had a successful online-shopping endeavor, and I got to take a nap before work! Yes, it was a bit frustrating that my work shift got slighted by an hour and then got asked to stay longer anyways, but it happens I suppose. I got off in time to catch a majority of the SAO Bible study, so that was good :) Afterwards, Jenn, Hannah, Steph, and I went over to Jenn's to watch Burlesque! (Okay, at this point you all probably think I'm obsessed with this movie.... And partially I am! But! This time was because Jenn had never seen it.... Sooo yeah.)

With finals around the corner, and zero studying having been done, I'm a little afraid that my waning work ethic and lack of motivation will be my demise. Better yet, it may put me in a very negative and unproductive mood due to the correlating consequences. I just need to put myself in gear. Hopefully I can pull this off. My goal is to not get below an A- in any course. I might just be able to pull it off! I do hope so, anyways!

Random sidenote: I really love the way this song sounds. I know it's not filled with christmas cheer or mental images that make you warm and fuzzy inside, but the tone of voice combined with the music just sits really well with me :)

Not sure how I feel about the Glee version... But I do know that I like the first sung part!

Goodnight loves!

I'm just going to take this moment to say

that I am the WORST shopper ever... (in some cases, at least).
ROUGH.

I should be more concerned about finals than I am... story of everyone's life, right? I have no motivation to really even care about this semester anymore, and I am ready for two things: 1) Break and 2) Change (in regards to my schedule). Yep. I spent my time in Carrier today enjoying Starbucks with my sisters, watching Once Upon a Time/New Girl, and attempting to online shop. So productive, I know. I also realize that this post kind of sounds all over the place and is lacking flow. My sincerest apologies, I'm just tired. And on that note, I think I'll just call it a night. Sorry for the blandness! Goodnight loves!

Decided to try curly-ish hair today.

I think I like it :) (Also, I really like this scarf that Kaci got me for our small group secret santa last night!) But in other news, today was alright. My presentation for intro to social work went well, and I am happy to have that officially off of my plate! Huzzah! I was able to get a 30ish minute power nap in before an emotional an interesting social welfare class. It is from this class that I decided that I am for universal health care. Everyone deserves help in a medical crisis, regardless of their financial situation. Having a loved one die simply because they aren't wealthy or under employee benefits is just too tragic and, in my opinion, unjust. I'm kind of glad I finally have a conscious stance on something political, because I'm generally part of the "on the fence" crowd. But yes, so that was that.

After grabbing Steph some lunch and delivering it to her in Carrier, it was time for an oceanography cram session. It paid off. I got a 90 on my exam! YES! Now I just need to do well on the final.... Ugh. But yeah, after class I had a little moment of tension with my professor... She told we could look over our past exams to study for our final, and since we weren't allowed to take them home, I started typing up the questions and responses. Well... apparently she was not okay with that. She didn't say there would be any consequences, but it makes me anxious nonetheless. Ugg boots, I hope she doesn't take points off of my grade or anything! I'm a little scurrred :(

But(!), as a highlight of my day, I got to skype Heather!!!! Oh my goodness, do I miss my best friend. Talking to her always brightens my day, without fail. I cannot wait until break when I can hang out with her on the reg, and we won't have to worry about glitchy wi-fi connection or video/audio quality. That, and I really just want to hug her! Heather, you have a massive hug coming your way this Saturday! Brace yourself :)

Since our skype date, I've been in Carrier. I haven't done a lot, but I did just edit a paper and letter for Steph. I think all of the reading drained me... I'm zonked.
Hopefully I'll be back in my bed soon. I love you all! Goodnight :)

Weekend Update!

Since I haven't blogged since Friday night (crazy, right?), here's what's been going on.

Saturday: Our beautiful Deltas got initiated!!!

Aren't they SO precious?! Ahh!

My Little and I! She made me the cutest pillow! I LOVE IT!

Look how BIG we are!!! Eeep! I love how our sisterhood is growing!

Follow that up with a sleepover including fishbowl, psychiatrist, AND the question/answer game, and you have one crazy hysterical night :) Sleep deprived? Yes. But still oh so very wonderful :) I love having so many sisters!

Sunday: Brunch with Kirsten, Brittany, and Rachel was very fun; we strolled down memory lane :) I did some filming with my small group for our "Fun Night" video. It was pretty funny :) After that was shopping for my small group secret santa, followed by our SAO family dinner/first meeting with the Deltas/last meeting of the semester! You know what that meant? Craziness. We pulled out the chakras, which they were so confused/uncomfortable about... HAHA! (You kind of have to be there.) Our meeting lasted about 2 hours because we had so much to explain, and we had to sign up for committees. Y'all, I'm the new Bible Study Committee head for next semester.... I'm a little scared, but at the same time I felt compelled to sign-up for that committee as a means to challenge myself. Feeling "compelled" (if Focus taught me anything, it was this) is a way that God works in us. Obviously, God has a plan for me through this position, so I will need to place my trust in His faithfulness.

Monday (today): Hello stress. I was still a little overwhelmed with the responsibilities I'll be having as Bible Study head next semester this morning (but no worries, I'm better now). I've been trying to study for my oceanography exam that I have tomorrow. (I bet you can guess how that's going... Or rather, NOT going.) Plus, I met up with my intro to social work group to finish up our project that we're presenting tomorrow.... Yeah, that took 2 hours. It shouldn't have, but it did. That whole meeting/leading up to it made me anxious in and of itself. And now, it is almost 4 AM and I have to be up in approximately 5 hours... Dearie me, I'm having some serious prayer time before my zzzz's. Goodnight loves! I hope you are sleeping well :)

Destined for friendship.

As hokey or cliche as that may sound, I think it's true that our relationships were destined. By that, I mean that God had a purpose in forging your relationships, and it isn't as if your friendship with someone came as a total surprise to Him. Our Father knows what we'll need from our brothers and sisters in Christ, and He knows just who to utilize. For that I am so thankful, because I know that my blessings are just that. There is no luck or coincidence involved. God is looking out for me. He has provided some of the greatest encouragement and support through the incredible relationships I have with my friends. And it was through my family at WEAG that the Lord showed me what it means to be a true friend/sister to others. That love and compassion for one another as children of Christ is now embedded in my heart, which has permanently been altered. My roots are deep, my ties unbreakable. God forged them, and love defines them. He is truly at the core essence of my truest relationships, and for that I could sing endless praises. Thank you, Father, for providing your daughter with friends who are able to take the love they have received from you and reflect that onto others. I am beyond grateful.

Two naps, five-hour work shift, and two chapters of 1 Thessalonians.

Today was a pretty long day, but not too terrible really. My classes were painless, and I got to take a nap in a massive beanbag in-between them, which I loved. I also took a nap after my last class, and that was pretty wonderful as well. I ended staying at work for an extra hour because they needed help, and even though the shift seemed to last forever, it wasn't too terrible. I had lots of friend drop by and say hi to me, so that made me smile :) As for the remainder of my night, I spent it in Carrier with Stephanie, Hannah, Hannah (Little), Valerie, and Tom (the latter two are friends of my Little that I met last night!). I had a lovely time hanging out with them, but it's funny that I spent about four hours there and had no work to do... Maybe I'm crazy! Haha. But at least I was in great company :)

In other news, I read the first two chapters of 1 Thessalonians today :) And let me tell you, they gave me something to aspire to. They had superb faith in the Lord and embodied the gospel in such a way that the presence of the Holy Spirit within them was unmistakably evident! What would it look like for me to live my life so that others would have not a shred of doubt that my faith lied solely in the Lord. Ahhh! I want that! And I shall strive for that!

4 For we know, brothers and sisters loved by God, that he has chosen you, 5 because our gospel came to you not simply with words but also with power, with the Holy Spirit and deep conviction. You know how we lived among you for your sake. 6You became imitators of us and of the Lord, for you welcomed the message in the midst of severe suffering with the joy given by the Holy Spirit. 7 And so you became a model to all the believers in Macedonia and Achaia. 8 The Lord’s message rang out from you not only in Macedonia and Achaia—your faith in God has become known everywhere."
{1 Thessalonians 1:4-8}

13 And we also thank God continually because, when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as a human word, but as it actually is, the word of God, which is indeed at work in you who believe. 14 For you, brothers and sisters, became imitators of God’s churches in Judea, which are in Christ Jesus..."
{1 Thessalonians 2:13-14}

Goodnight loves!

Though the week goes fast

the work drags on... Today's shift seemed like it took forever, but I suppose there are going to be days like that no matter what you're doing! I'm still thankful for my job :) In happy news, I got a 95 on my on my anthropology test! And I got to spent copious amount of time with my little today :) We had our weekly dinner date and then proceeded to go to Carrier! I bought her a snowman cookie-pop from Starbucks before getting to work. While she actually had a paper to write, I had to find something to do and finally settled on editing my opinion papers for oceanography... Yuck. But, it would have had to be done eventually!

Not being in GCN is killing me. If I could explain to you haw badly I desire to be dancing on that stage, I would. But this blurb would not do it justice, so I'll just leave it at that...

I would also like to take this time to point out that my exam schedule is... interesting. I have one on the Monday of finals week, and three on Thursday (one of which is oceanography). Now, I'm not concerned too much with the fact that I have three on Thursday (two of them are social work classes and shouldn't be too hard), but I originally thought they were on Tuesday! So I have this awkward gap in between them, but that's not the real 'ugh boots' factor. The bummer is that I will not be home in time for the Seek & Echo Christmas Parties :( I was hoping to be home in time to make it, but alas, my syllabi thwarted that. It's okay, though! I'm sure I'll have plenty of one-on-one dates to make up for it! I can't wait to have three weeks to spend time with my youth loves :)

10 days until I come home to see the show! EEEP! I cannot wait! Goodnight all :)
